NEW YORK (AP) β Up-and-coming rapper Bobby Shmurda is expected to face gun and narcotics charges in New York.
Shmurda was named in an indictment that will be unsealed on Thursday. He was arrested Wednesday after leaving a Manhattan recording studio. Several others also were taken into custody.
The charges stem from an investigation into a series of gang-related shootings and drug trafficking in the city.
The 20-year-old Brooklyn-born rapper is best known for the hit song “Hot Boy.” One of his videos also popularized a dance move called the “Shmoney dance.”
His real name is Ackquille Pollard.
