BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) β Ahmed Hill scored 18 points and Virginia Tech beat the Presbyterian 87-65 on Saturday night. Presbyterian (4-9) suffered its third straight setback. Jordan Downing had 19 for Presbyterian.
SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) β Dylan Thompson threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score in South Carolina’s 24-21 victory over Miami on Saturday in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl. Pharoh Cooper was Thompson’s favorite target, catching nine passes for 170 yards, including a spectacular 25-yard grab on what proved to be the decisive drive late in the fourth quarter. Thompson completed 22 of 34 passes. South Carolina (7-6) has won a school-record four straight bowl games.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Nikola Vucevic had 22 points and 11 rebounds, Tobias Harris scored 21 points and the Orlando Magic overcame 42 points from Kemba Walker to beat the Charlotte Hornets 102-94 on Saturday night. Walker scored a Charlotte-record 35 in the second half and finished 15 of 30 in the highest-scoring game of his career, but the Hornets could never regain the lead after falling behind by 10 at halftime. It’s the seventh time in the last 10 games Walker has scored at least 20 points.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) β Marcus Paige scored 16 points to lead No. 20 North Carolina past UAB 89-58 on Saturday. Kennedy Meeks added 14 points and Justin Jackson had 13 for the Tar Heels (9-3), who never trailed and led by as many as 36 while shooting 50 percent.
