CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say the husband of a Charlotte woman infected with Ebola has returned from Liberia. Β
Three SIM missionaries who were serving in Liberia during the recent Ebola virus outbreak returned to Charlotte late Sunday night. Β
David Writebol, the husband of Charlotte native Nancy Writebol–who is currently seeking treatment for Ebola in Atlanta, flew into Charlotte-Douglas International Airport shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday. Β
He and the other two missionaries are healthy and do not have any signs or symptoms of Ebola. Β They were checked and cleared medically before boarding the flight to Charlotte and then checked again once they landed in Mecklenburg County. Β
The missionaries will remain under a 21-day quarantine. Β Dr. Stephen Keener, Mecklenburg County’s medical director, says the quarantine is a preventative measure, and at this time public health officials feel there is no cause for concern. Β
Upon completion of the 21-day quarantine period, Writebol plans to visit his wife Nancy in Atlanta. Β
