CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say the husband of a Charlotte woman infected with Ebola has returned from Liberia.
Three SIM missionaries who were serving in Liberia during the recent Ebola virus outbreak returned to Charlotte late Sunday night.
David Writebol, the husband of Charlotte native Nancy Writebol–who is currently seeking treatment for Ebola in Atlanta, flew into Charlotte-Douglas International Airport shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday.
He and the other two missionaries are healthy and do not have any signs or symptoms of Ebola. They were checked and cleared medically before boarding the flight to Charlotte and then checked again once they landed in Mecklenburg County.
The missionaries will remain under a 21-day quarantine. Dr. Stephen Keener, Mecklenburg County’s medical director, says the quarantine is a preventative measure, and at this time public health officials feel there is no cause for concern.
Upon completion of the 21-day quarantine period, Writebol plans to visit his wife Nancy in Atlanta.
