The Charlotte Observer reports that Deputy City Manager Ronald Kimble revealed the city’s plans on Tuesday to about 200 people at the Charlotte Rotary Club’s weekly meeting.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) β Asheville and the Southern Conference basketball championships are staying together into the next decade. The two sides announced a four-year extension to an agreement to continue playing the tournaments at U.S. Cellular Center through 2021. The existing deal was set to expire in 2017.
CINCINNATI (AP) βThe Cincinnati Reds swept the Philadelphia Phillies with a 5-2 victory yesterday after losing shortstop Zack Cozart to a knee injury. Ivan De Jesus Jr. homered for the second time in three games. Cozart twisted his right ankle and knee as he tried to beat out a grounder in the first inning.
NEW YORK (AP) β The Washington Nationals snapped the New York Yankees’ seven-game winning streak with a 5-4 victory yesterday. Denard Span had a run-scoring infield hit with two outs in the 11th inning. Michael Taylor hit a tying, two-run homer in the eighth against 22-year-old rookie Jacob Lindgren.
