CLEVELAND (AP) β Stephen (STEH’-fehn) Curry and Andre Iguodala (ih-gah-DAH’-lah) scored 22 points apiece and the Golden State Warriors shut out LeBron James in the fourth quarter of a 103-82 rout of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors went on a 9-0 run bridging the third and four quarters to take a 12-point lead before evening the NBA Finals at two games apiece. Timofey Mozgov (TIM’-oh-fay MAHZ’-gahv) had a game-high 28 points for the Cavaliers, while James finished with 20, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
MILWAUKEE (AP) β The Detroit Pistons have acquired veteran Ersan Ilyasova (ehr-SAHN’ ih-lah-SOH’-vah) from the Milwaukee Bucks for forwards Caron (kuh-RAHN’) Butler and Shawne Williams. Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said the 6-foot-10 Ilyasova is a player that Detroit has coveted. He averaged 10.7 points and 6 rebounds in 453 games, all with the Bucks.
UNDATED (AP) β Reds shortstop Zack Cozart will need reconstructive surgery to repair a torn tendon and two torn ligaments in his right knee. Cozart hurt the knee when he slipped on first base while trying to beat out a grounder during a win over Philadelphia on Wednesday. Cozart is among the NL’s top shortstops in numerous offensive categories, with nine homers and 28 RBIs.
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) β The Detroit Lions have signed first-round pick Laken Tomlinson to a four-year package that includes a team option and is worth about $8.3 million. The 323-pound guard from Duke was the 28th overall pick and is expected to bolster an offensive line that was a weak spot for the Lions last season. Detroit allowed 45 sacks in 2014, 22 more than the previous season.
STRASBOURG, France (AP) β European lawmakers have urged FIFA (FEE’-fuh) President Sepp Blatter to step down immediately, and for an interim leader to be appointed. Members of the European Parliament passed their resolution by a show of hands after debating the corruption allegations which have plunged soccer’s governing body into crisis. Blatter announced his resignation plans last week and promised an election to replace him would be held within nine months.
