AC&C’s Pet Safety Tips For Summer And Hot Temps

CHARLOTTE, NC– CMPD’s Animal Care & Control Division is reminding people of the stresses pets can go through in the hot summer months.

AC&C wants people to be mindful of the excessive heat, especially if pets are left inside vehicles.

Officers have reportedly responded to numerous calls for animal’s left inside vehicles.

All AC&C officers carry infa-red thermostats that measure temperature inside vehicles, if an animal is found inside a vehicle and be lived to be in distress, officers are able to break the window to gain access.

Officers have reported inside vehicle temps as high as 130 plus degrees.

During the summer months pets also go through more stress due to fireworks, thunderstorms and loud noises, if your pet is scared easily AC&C recommends consulting your vet for a type of sedative.
