Walker scores 22, Hornets hold off Bucks
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β Kemba Walker scored 22 points, and the Charlotte Hornets overcame the loss of center Al Jefferson to hold off the Milwaukee Bucks 87-82 on Sunday.
Nicolas Batum added 15 points, Jeremy Lamb 14 and Marvin Williams 12 for the Hornets, who have now won five of six, all at home.
Khris Middleton scored 19 points for the Bucks, who have lost three straight. Greg Monroe added 17 points and 10 rebounds, O.J. Mayo 12, Jerryd Bayless 11 and Jabari Parker 10.
Jefferson went out of the game with a left calf strain with 5:09 remaining in the first quarter, and did not return.
Charlotte led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but Milwaukee rallied to tie the score at 80-80 on Monroe’s layup with 1:05 remaining.
But Batum put the Hornets back on top with a 3-pointer 19 seconds later, and Walker followed with a short jumper and two free throws to extend Charlotte’s lead.
T25-SOUTH CAROLINA-HAWAII
No. 2 South Carolina women beat Hawaii 67-51
HONOLULU (AP) β A’ja Wilson scored 18 points and No. 2 South Carolina beat Hawaii 67-51 on Sunday night in the final game of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown.
Tiffany Mitchell had 14 points, Bianca Cuevas 13 and Khadijah Sessions 11 for the Gamecocks (7-0), who went 3-0 over the weekend to win the four-team tournament.
Wilson, a 6-foot-5 forward and a freshman All-American last season, shot 8 of 15 from the field and grabbed a team-high five rebounds before fouling out with 2:40 left. She was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Cuevas also selected to the all-tournament team.
South Carolina shot 46 percent from the field and led by as many as 18 points. The Gamecocks got 23 points off of 20 Hawaii turnovers and also held the edge in point in the paint, 36-18.
Destiny King scored 15 points for Hawaii (4-3). Megan Huff had 13, and Ashleigh Karaitiana 10.
SC STATE-KANSAS ST
Kansas St escapes with 68-66 win over South Carolina St
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) β Justin Edwards scored 18 points, including four key free throws in the final 17 seconds, and Kansas State avoided an upset bid by South Carolina State, 68-66, on Sunday.
The Bulldogs pulled within 64-61 with 21 seconds remaining on an Ed Stephens 3-pointer, but Edwards sealed the game at the line.
South Carolina State kept it close for most of the game, recovering after Wesley Iwundu rattled off three-straight buckets and dished out an assist to Kamau Stokes for a 3-pointer to extend Kansas State’s halftime lead to 50-39 with 15:07 left.
Dean Wade finished with 12 points and Iwundu 11. Stephen Hurt had 10 points, 10 rebounds and two assists for Kansas State (5-1).
Stephens scored 24 points and Eric Eaves 21 for South Carolina State (3-4). Together, they accounted for 68 percent of the Bulldogs’ scoring.

AP Top 25: Oklahoma up to No. 3, Clemson-Alabama still 1-2
UNDATED (AP) – Oklahoma moved up to No. 3 behind Clemson and Alabama and the Big Ten placed three teams in the top six of the new Associated Press college football poll.
Clemson is No. 1 for the fourth straight week and Alabama is No. 2. The Tigers received 53 first-place votes and the Crimson Tide got the other eight from the media panel.
The Sooners jumped two spots to after winning the Big 12 title with a 58-23 victory at Oklahoma State on Saturday night.
Three Big Ten teams followed with Iowa at No. 4, Michigan State No. 5 and Ohio State No. 6.
Stanford moved up six spots to No. 7 after beating Notre Dame with a last-second field goal and the Fighting Irish dropped from fourth to ninth.
