CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Some of the kids at Kennedy Middle School gave up their day off during a teacher workday to come into the school to talk with Wilson about some of the projects that they have worked on as part of their STEM program.
STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) is a program that focuses on those fields to get kids ready to enter the world of technology. From the school’s cyber cafe and media center Wilson talked with the students about their work and what they are learning from the STEM program. They showed Wilson some of the projects they have been working on.
Members of the school’s “Green Team” talked with Wilson about their participation with the group and why they feel it is important to recycle and keep the environment clean and green.
Some of the kids with the Technology Student Association proudly showed off their trophies and their Daytona International Speedway model. Wilson then went outside with the kids to check out the soap box derby car that they have built with the help of a grant from the N.C. Science Festival. They even took the car for a spin through the parking lot.
