REAX: Mark Price Comments on Passing of 49ers Student Trainer

Charlotte 49ers basketball student trainer died in a car accident last week.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WCCB Charlotte ) — The Charlotte 49ers lost two road games last week — but any issues on the court could not even begin to parallel to what the team was dealing with it off the court.

Student manager Austin Rainey was killed in a car wreck Thursday in Northern Virginia. Head coach Mark Price said the team will be attending Rainey’s funeral on Friday.

“When it totally comes out of the blue and unexpected like that, its really a jolt,” Price said. “Our guys are still dealing with it and struggling. We are trying to make sure we are keeping our arms around them and letting them know how much we care about them and try to get them any help on or off the court to get through this difficult time.”

The team sent out this tweet on Friday.
