Wet Weather Causes Deadly Accident on I-485; Victim Identified

[UPDATE]

Troopers have identified the victim in Thursday night’s fatal accident as 29-year-old Bintan Theuankham of Conover, NC.

Investigators say wet weather is to blame for last night’s accident.

Theuankham was traveling on I-485 when he hydroplaned on the wet road into two other vehicles. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle. A third vehicle from Maryland then hit Theuankham in the roadway.

Officials say they do not know whether Theuankham was dead before the third car ran him over or not.

John Lindsey was driving the second car to collide with Theuankham when he hydroplaned. Lindsey was taken to CMC with minor injuries.
