New Developments: 6 Charged in Drug Fueled Robbery

There have been new developments concerning the case surrounding the shooting and robbery that occurred at 1693 Old Mountain. Investigators interviewed the the suspects involved and returned to the scene of the crime to collect further evidence. Using this evidence, investigators have managed to piece together what likely occurred during the event.

Evidence suggests that one of the alleged robbers made an arrangement to purchase marijuana from the homeowner and victim, Kyle Jones. However, it appears that the plan changed from a simple drug purchase to a full force robbery. Jones proceeded to open fire on the men attempting to rob him before they gained access to his home. On May 18th, one of the suspects, Shaheem Williams, was released from CMC and taken into custody at the Iredell county Detention Center. Williams has been placed on a $100,000 secure bond and, like the others convicted, appears to have prior criminal charges associated with breaking and entering as well as violent crime.

In particular, Williams’ past charges include second degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit common law robbery. Now he faces charges in first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of stolen firearms. Robber Ryan Woodard has had prior convictions concerning possession of a firearm by a minor, felony breaking and entering, larceny, and shoplifting. Currently, he faces charges in felony larceny, conspiring to commit felony larceny, first degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Royhame Williams has had prior convictions dealing with possession of marijuana along with charges for first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of stolen firearms. While Jalen Leach had no prior convictions, he was charged with felony larceny and now faces charges associated with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with weapon, and possession of stolen firearm. Finally, Marcus Hatley has also been charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery with dangerous weapon, and possession of stolen firearm.

The robbers are not the only ones facing serious charges. After being re-interviewed, Kyle Jones, who also showed evidence of prior crimes, was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling or place for controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and marijuana paraphernalia. Jones is currently awaiting trial and his bond is estimated to be around $10,000. During their return to the property, detectives have managed to collect a collection of firearms, ammunition, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
