Flipping Weather Script Into Veterans Day Weekend
It's more about quantity over quality with these rain chances, as most totals will remain under a quarter-inch through the weekend.
Veterans Day weekend will bring quite a few changes to the forecast after three straight days of record-challenging heat. A slow-moving cold front continues its journey across the Carolinas this morning, leaving clouds, showers, and much cooler air in its wake. As the system stalls to our south, overcast skies and spotty rain coverage can be expected for much of the holiday weekend. Despite the increase in precipitation chances, totals won’t be particularly impressive. Most communities in the WCCB Charlotte will rack up under a quarter-inch of rain over the next 72 hours; the highest rain chances arrive on Friday afternoon and Sunday morning, especially south of the Queen City. Afternoon highs will struggle to get out of the 40s and 50s this weekend across the board.
Drier air and near-average temperatures return to the Carolinas by the start of the workweek. Another rainmaking system will attempt to push eastward after forming in the northern Gulf; models are split on whether it makes it to the Carolinas towards the latter half of the workweek. Regardless, highs should hang around the 50s and 60s for much of the week ahead.
