SALISBURY, N.C. – A man was involved in a drug bust following a break-in at the Tractor Supply Company on Wednesday, November 29th.
Officers responded to an alarm call on Jake Alexander Boulevard around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, officers say they observed a silver car entering the parking lot of a tractor supply company and quickly exit.
According to a news release, officers at the scene attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle in case it was related to the alarm.
Officers say as they activated the emergency lights the vehicle, driven by 30-year-old Jason Evans increased speed and accessed I-85 at Julian Road. Evans continued southbound on I-85 reaching over 100 miles per hour, according to a news release.
Police say additional officers joined the pursuit as it continued to the outskirts of Charlotte until Evans lost control of the vehicle and wrecked into a fence.
Evans was apprehended and received the following charges:
- Felony Possession of Cocaine
- Possession with Intent to sell and deliver Cocaine
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- 2 counts of Possession with Intent to sell and deliver Sch II controlled substance
- Felony Possession of Sch II controlled substance
- Felony Flee to elude
- Resisting Public Officer
- Misdemeanor possession of stolen goods
- Possession of a Firearm by Felon
- Felony Maintain vehicle for the sale of controlled substance
- Driving While License Revoked License
- Reckless Driving
- Speeding
Evans was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center with no bond due to a Pre-Trial release Violation and was served the following outstanding warrants:
-Union County
- Attempt to Obtain Property under False Pretense
Given a $1,000.00 bond
-Mecklenburg County
- Interfere Emergency Communication
- Assault on a Female
- False Imprisonment
- Unauthorized use of Motor vehicle
Placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a no bond due to the charges pertaining to Domestic Violence.
