Family Of Man Shot By CMPD Seeking Answers

CHARLOTTE, NC– The mother of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting last week say they are being kept in the dark about her son’s death.

18-year-old Rodney Smith allegedly shot a man on a CATS bus, then fired at two CMPD officers last Thursday night. The officers returned fire, killing Smith.

His mother says she’s been unable to reach detectives and still hasn’t seen her son’s body.

“This is real frustrating because they’re not telling us nothing, they had on the news that my son has been shot several times. We don’t know where he’s been shot at or nothing.” said Smith’s Mother, Lucresha Smith.

Both the CMPD officers were placed on administrative leave while the department investigates.
