Sunny Skies, Cooler Highs Continue

The WCCB Charlotte viewing area won't see so much as a drop of rain over the next five days.

‘Twas two weeks before Christmas, and all through the house, heating bill arguments can be heard with your spouse. After barely cracking 50Β° yesterday, temperatures attempt to rise a bit further this Tuesday afternoon. Expect highs in the 40s and lower 50s across the western half of the Carolinas as plentiful sunshine erupts once again this afternoon. Lows will fall into the 20s and 30s overnight before we take another step in the warmer direction on Wednesday; afternoon temperatures will end up near average in the upper 50s around the Metro. Any hope of an extended warm-up this week will be dashed as a dry cold front sweeps in by Wednesday night. Highs will fall back into the lower 50s in the Queen City on Thursday before we wake up to teens and 20s Friday morning.

We likely won’t see so much as a drop of rain around our area through the workweek. Our next shot at significant rainfall lies at the end of the weekend. Models continue to suggest an area of low pressure will develop in the Gulf by Saturday before sweeping northeastward towards the Carolinas. There is still significant disagreement on the system’s track, but there’s a decent chance the Metro and eastward pick up measurable rainfall Sunday into early Monday before things clear out again. We’ll keep you weather-wise as the forecast becomes clearer.
