Lake Residents Demand Solutions to Beach Traffic

CORNELIUS, NC– “You’re almost a prisoner in your own home you don’t want to leave with thousands of people walking in front of your house,” said resident Lee Fleming.

Angry residents of the Ramsey Creek Park neighborhood packed Cornelius town Hall to discuss solutions to the new beach traffic by their homes.

“The difference in quality of life before and after we all life down there We chose to live down there cause is quiet neighborhood dead end,” said resident, Mike Montanaro.

Neighbors say Mecklenburg county park and Rec didn’t think through where they put this nearly $500,000 public beach. They say congestion has become unbearable and even a stop light on Nantz won’t fix it.

“We got a lot of Information lot of suggestions we’re going to go back and meet next Thursday and try to see what notifications we can make to make this a better park,” said Greg Clemer with Mecklenburg County Park and Rec.

Neighbors say they don’t feel like the county is listening to their solutions, one being, do what they have done for major festivals in the park in the past.

“Instead of having them park up and down the streets they also do remote park and shuttle them in that would go a long ways to solving most the issues,” said Montanaro.
