Speed and Alcohol Suspected Cause Of Deadly Crash In East Charlotte
Excessive speed and alcohol use appear to be the contributing factors in this crash on the part of Jonathan Furr.
CHARLOTTE, NC– On Tuesday, June 28th, 2016 at 9:38 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Eastway Division officers responded to a collision in the 4200 block of Winedale Lane. Jonathan Furr was driving a 2002 Ford Focus traveling northwest on Winedale Lane, a two lane residential neighborhood street with a posted speed limit of 25mph. The Ford was traveling approximately 50mph and crossed into the opposing lane, passing a parked vehicle on the right side of the road. The Ford struck a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta head-on traveling in the opposite direction, driven by Keyosha McVay. Medic responded to the scene and Mr. Furr was pronounced deceased from the injuries he sustained in the collision. Mr. Furr was not wearing his seatbelt. Ms. McVay was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Detectives with the Major Crash Investigation Unit and DWI Task Force officers were called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Crime Scene Investigators also responded to process the scene.
