STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a deadly crash in Stanly County.
The wreck involving a tractor-trailer happened around 4 p.m. on NC 52 at Dennis Road, south of Albemarle.
Officials say the 18 wheeler was traveling on 52 South and the vehicle was traveling on 52 North. The vehicle then ran off the side of the road and over-corrected, hitting the 18 wheeler head on.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the 18 wheeler was transported to Stanly Regional with minor injuries.
The road is currently closed NC 52 at Dennis Road due to the accident.
