Troopers Say A Victim In Rock Hill’s Multi-Vehicle Crash Has Died

ROCK HILL, SC — Rock Hill Police and SC State Troopers are investigating after a failed traffic stop ends with five people injured and one dead Wednesday afternoon.

Officers with Rock Hill PD say they were trying to stop 23-year-old Stevie McClinton around 4:15pm on Crawford Road when he sped off. McClinton then ran a traffic light at Heckle Boulevard and crashed into 72-year-old Phyllis Brown’s Prius, pushing it into Arthur June’s, 67, truck. McClinton took off on foot, but was caught a short time later.

Troopers say Brown had two passengers in her car. One was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut out. Brown and one rear passenger, 62-year-old Pamela Roy, both of Ridgeway, SC, were injured in the accident. A second passenger sitting in the front was killed. That victim’s name has not been released.

June was also injured in the accident and transported by medic.

McClinton and his passenger, 30-year-old Xavier Davis, were both taken by medic after also complaining of injuries, according to officers.

Officials say Rock Hill PD will handle any charges that will be filed in the case.
