The Salvation Army Of Greater Charlotte Partners With Subaru Loves To Help And Operation Warm To Bring New Winter Attire To Children In Need

CHARLOTTE, NC (news release) — More than 250 new coats and 250 new socks and shoes will be distributed to children residing at The Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 2:30 p.m. Subaru South Charlotte and Operation Warm donated all items.

The event is designed to meet the needs of every child who walks through the shelter’s doors. As such, there is a wide range of coats and shoes of every size and range of colors. The coats have a fleece lining and deep pockets to help keep the children warm, even without gloves. The shoes are very kid-friendly, with durable soles that are lightweight and comfortable.

“We are so pleased that Subaru Loves to Help, one of five pillars that make up the Subaru Love Promise, is now a partnership with Operation Warm, enabling us to gift warm coats, shoes with socks to children served by The Salvation Army. The coats and shoes will fulfill an immediate need in our community,” says Bill Musgrave, Retailer, Subaru South Charlotte and Subaru Concord.

“At Center of Hope, we see children entering with only the clothes on their backs,” says Major Jason Burns, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. “This distribution is a timely blessing for the families and children who utilize our services.”

These essential items help keep children protected, warm, and dry during cold temperatures and can significantly impact a child’s mental and emotional well-being.

“A warm coat and suitable shoes can mean the difference between atending school and participating in activities or sittng out,” added Burns. “No child should ever have to face these circumstances.”

Operation Warm manufactures coats, shoes, and socks to the strictest industry standards – ensuring that kids love how they look and feel.
