CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 52-year-old man will serve over 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a Charlotte man at a home in north Charlotte in 2018.
Carlton Hancock, 52, was originally called to trial for first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges. However, he pled guilty to second-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in Brian Scott Carriker’s death.
Carriker died while being a guest in a friend’s home in the early morning hours on November 18th, 2018. Also in the home was Hancock, who, at some point, attacked Carriker with a hammer.
Hancock stabbed Carriker in the neck multiple times before fleeing in Carriker’s truck. He was arrested later that day in High Point, North Carolina.
Hancock was sentenced 310-384 months (25.8 – 32 years) for the murder charge and 67-93 months (5.6 – 7.8 years) for the robbery with a dangerous weapon charge.
