Police Identify Women From East Charlotte Standoff
UPDATE: Police identified the suspects as Caleena Reece and Lisa Laskowski. They have both been charged with armed robbery.
CHARLOTTE, NC– “Honestly I thought the cops did great job at one point after they blew the door off and there was loud boom they were being super patient saying come out with your hands up,” said East Charlotte resident, Harrison Fahrer.
And after several hours police say the two female suspects inside the apartment at Peppertree Apartments did just that, surrendered after police brought in K-9 , swat and negotiators to communicate with them.
“A female officer on the megaphone actually said I’m really proud of you keep doing what you’re doing come out with hands up you’re doing great,” said Fahrer.
Police say the incident started around 4:45 in the afternoon when CMPD identified a vehicle that was stolen during an armed robbery earlier in the day, the police helicopter followed that stolen vehicle until the two female suspects jumped out and ran into the apartment here.
Police set up a perimeter closing off part of Kilborne leaving many unable to get home.
“I just left 10 minutes before this happened and went to Food Lion down the street and came back and all this was going on ”
As hours passed the crowd grew larger, many just waiting to see the outcome and hoping for the best.
“It’s crazy I just hope everything gets resolved peacefully nobody gets hurt everybody goes home to their families but seeing stuff like this kinda crazy,” said East Charlotte resident, Richard Lloyd.
