Police Arrest Suspect In North Charlotte Murder
UPDATE: Police say they have arrested a man for the murder of Brittany Carelock on N. Tryon Street Wednesday.
Marquise Teeter, 38, was arrested Friday through coordinated efforts between CMPD and Rock Hill Police, according to officials. Teeter is charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
He is currently in the custody of York County Sheriff’s Office, and is awaiting extradition back to NC. No word on when that will happen.
This investigation is ongoing.
CHARLOTTE, NC– A woman is dead after she was shot this afternoon in North Charlotte. Tonight, the suspect is still on the loose and considered armed and dangerous.
We’re told the woman and the shooter knew each other, and exchanged gun fire after some sort of incident.
Officers were called to the area near North Tryon and 11th street around 3:30 and found 27-year-old Brittany Carelock with a gunshot to the back of her head. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
That area is just North of uptown.
“We’re interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage and hope to have more information shortly,” said Capt. Dave Johnson of the CMPD.
Police aren’t releasing the victim’s name at this time.
