CMPD Crime Stats Show That Violent Crimes Are Up

CHARLOTTE, NC– New crime stats show murders are up in Charlotte.

Its part of a disturbing rise in violent crime this year.

Violent crime is up more than 12%.

Homicides are up more than 4%.

There have been 48 murders so far this year compared to 46 at this same time last year. Aggravated assaults are up more than 15%, robberies are up more than 9%.

CMPD is focusing on stopping repeat offenders and getting guns off the street.
