Study: Less Parents are Spanking their Kids

CHARLOTTE, NC — Getting spanked was a part of growing up for some kids. A new study says fewer and fewer parents are doing it these days.
According to the Journal of Pediatrics, some parents are moving away from physical discipline. Instead – parents are using more gentle punishments like time outs. Or, they’ll reward good behavior with stickers.
Researchers reviewed four national studies of Kindergarten-age children between 1988 through 2011.
The study says more low-income parents than high-income parents still believe spanking is the best way to go.
