Discussion:
We are in for a treat to start the weekend. We have a few lingering showers in Richmond county this morning as well as some patchy fog. Drier air will move in quickly today with the front sliding off the coast. Highs will still reach the upper 80s, but with dew points sliding into the 40s and 50s, it will feel much more comfortable than it did the last few days. We’ll see a similar forecast Saturday, but the mugginess builds ahead of an approaching front Sunday. We could finally see our first 90 degree day on Sunday. As of today, it has been 274 days since the last time Charlotte reached 90 (Sept 7) Since it is a leap year, that means we’re at the 159th day of the year. It will be close to a top 20 latest first 90 degree day, and the latest since 2017 (the first 90 degree day wasn’t until June 13). Back to the forecast…isolated storms possible Sunday into Sunday night ahead of the cold front. Things get a little tricky next week with the models not agreeing on whether the front stalls or clears early next week. If the front stalls it would mean a soggy and cooler outlook for next week. Right now, keeping chance rain in the forecast with highs near average, but we will need to monitor for likely changes over the next few days.
