Man Arrested After Stabbing Three People Within 24 Hours
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 19-year-old is facing attempted murder charges after police said he stabbed three victims across Charlotte within 24 hours.
The first stabbing involved a woman that was leaving work on Randolph Road near Sam Drenan Road around 6 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Josiah Maitland, 19, approached the woman and allegedly stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the area.
The next morning around 11 a.m. on Old Mount Holly Road, officers said a man walking his moped to a safe location to make repairs was stabbed multiple times by an unknown man.
Police matched the descriptions of the suspect in both incidents and confirmed Maitland was responsible for both stabbings.
While working to locate Maitland, police said he stabbed another woman on a CATS bus on Freedom Drive near I-85. The suspect description matched with the previous two stabbings.
Officers patrolled the area and were able to arrest Maitland without incident.
Maitland is being charged with the following:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Intent to Kill, Inflict Serious Injury, 3 counts
- Attempted Murder, 2 counts
- Armed Robbery
