Ribbon Cutting At New Eli Lilly Facility

CONCORD, N.C. – The City of Concord is celebrating nearly 600 new jobs coming in.

Eli Lilly held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new facility. The manufacturing campus will have an average salary of more than $70,000.

The facility will manufacture GLP-1 weight loss drugs, like Mounjaro, starting in 2025. Gov. Roy Cooper was there for today’s ribbon cutting.

“It continues our efforts to make sure that we are concentrating on this sector of life sciences and pharmaceutical manufacturing,” Cooper said. “We’ve become a place to be in the country to do that. I think it’s the day of celebration today.”

The facility was built in just two years, which is far faster than the usual five years it takes to build them. Reportedly, it ended up costing $2 billion dollars instead of one.
