Dandelion Market Leaving Uptown Charlotte

Charlotte, N.C. (June 25, 2024)— Popular Charlotte restaurant and bar Dandelion Market announces it will leave uptown next month, citing rising rent rates as the reason for the move. The longtime Fifth Street staple has been a fixture of uptown for the past 15 years. Dandelion Market’s official last day will be Sunday, July 21.

“It’s a difficult decision, but we’ve been in on-going rent negotiations and will not be able to come to a resolution,” said Tommy Timmins, Co-Owner of Dandelion Market. “Any rent increase, significant or otherwise in this current market is simply not sustainable for the long term. It’s been an unbelievable run for Dandelion Market and we’re grateful for everyone who made it an uptown fixture these past 15 years. We are especially grateful to our loyal customers who have made Dandelion Market a success, as well as our dedicated staff, some of whom have been with us since our opening.”

Timmins, Maynard Goble and Kevin Devin opened Dandelion Market in January 2010. They are the same team behind popular Charlotte brands The Workman’s Friend, Tyber Creek, Connolly’s on Fifth, Prohibition and The Daily. Timmins says the group’s other uptown concepts are still going strong.

“We’re still committed to Uptown with our other concepts,” said Timmins. “Prohibition and Connolly’s are key pillars of uptown’s nightlife scene and doing well. Since pivoting The Daily into an event space, it’s thriving in an underserved market.”

Future plans for a new Dandelion Market location are in the works. Until then, the team is currently working on a brand new Dandelion Market food truck concept to service the new Tyber Creek Pub location coming to Mint Street. The food truck will be serving the same great small plates everyone has come to love over the last 15 years. In March,  Tyber Creek Pub started its move to 1501 S Mint St after operating on South Blvd for 25-years. The new location is about a mile from the original space. The group is currently awaiting permit approval to reopen Tyber Creek Pub in the new location.
