Jury Convicts Man Charged In 2016 Plaza Midwood Robbery, Shooting

The Latest:

A suspect accused of robbing and shooting two people in 2016 was convicted by a jury Monday and sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Jamall Glenn was found guilty on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Glenn was sentenced to 420-540 months in prison.

A co-defendant in the case, Ebonee Ward, previously pled guilty accessory after the fact to assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

A third suspect charged in connection to the crimes, Antonio Worthy, is still awaiting trial.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three suspects have been arrested after robbing and shooting two people in a Plaza Midwood parking lot Saturday evening.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Antonio Worthy, 33-year-old Jamall Glenn, and 29-year-old Ebonee Ward.

Reports say one of the suspects approached the victims in a strip mall parking lot on Central Avenue around 11 p.m. Saturday night.

The suspect robbed the victims, a man and a woman, at gunpoint and then shot them before getting into a vehicle with the two other suspects and fleeing the scene.

Two off-duty police officers were in the area and heard the gunshots. One of the officers stayed with the victims, while the other officer pursued the suspects.

The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed near Presbyterian Hospital.  One of the suspects was captured immediately, but the other two fled the scene on foot before being located and arrested.

All three face charges including  Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, and Resist, Delay and Obstruct.

Glenn also faces charges of Hit and Run, Firearm by Felon, Filing a False Police Report, and Felony Flee to Allude.
