Suspect Fighting For Life After Gastonia Officer-Involved Shooting

GASTONIA, NC– Tonight a man who tried to run from a State Trooper hangs on to life after the trooper shot him.

The trooper pulled the man over on Highway 74 near Bradley Road in Gastonia. When the trooper approached his car, the man tried to get away by driving up a hill.

But his car rolled back and pinned the trooper against another vehicle.  The trooper shot the man inside his car. He’s in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

That trooper is OK. The SBI is now investigating.
