Governor Cooper’s Inauguration Events Postponed Due To Winter Weather

UPDATE: Officials announced Thursday that Governor Roy Cooper’s inauguration events will be postponed due to winter weather concerns.

According to a release, the only event that will proceed as scheduled is the Prayer Service from 10-11 Friday morning.

The Oaths of Office for the Council of State Officers will be moved to the Governor’s Mansion Friday.

UPDATE: Due to the potential for winter weather this weekend, officials have announced that the Pre-Ceremony Concert, Swearing-in Ceremony, and Transfer of the Great Seal will be moved indoors to Memorial Auditorium at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh.

The Inaugural Parade has also been cancelled but may be rescheduled for a later date.

The theme of the weekend will be “North Carolina for All.” The events will take place from Friday, January 6th to Sunday, January 8th, and will include a prayer service, concert, swearing-ing, parade, and NC Executive Mansion open house.
