Discussion:
An upper level low over the Ohio Valley will keep the forecast unsettled to start the week locally. Scattered showers and a few storms could make for a messy morning commute. Scattered to numerous showers and storms this afternoon with highs only reaching the low to mid 80s. There is an isolated severe threat with damaging wind the biggest concern. We will need to watch for a cluster of ongoing storms that could reach the region overnight into early Tuesday morning bringing the threat of heavy rain and strong storms capable of producing damaging wind. Temps will rebound back into the upper 80s with scattered storms Tuesday. We’ll begin to dry out by midweek as high pressure fills in. This will lead to highs back in the mid to upper 90s with heat indices reaching the triple digits. A cold front will cross through the region this weekend leading to a more seasonable summertime pattern with scattered storms and highs near 90.
Tropics Update:
After a quiet few weeks, the tropics are looking more active. The next name on the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Name list is Debby.
Near the Leeward Islands/Lesser Antilles – Medium Chance:
An area of unsettled weather could become a tropical depression mid to late week after interacting with an approaching tropical wave. Models not in great agreement over this storm development, however it is something to watch as it could impact the SE coast early next week…
