Scattered Showers And Storms Tuesday
AM Headlines:
- Morning Showers
- Afternoon Storms
- Quiet & Dry Mid-Week
- Weekend Cold Front
- Tropical Storm Ernesto
Discussion:
An upper level disturbance will trigger a few showers this morning, with a stronger storm or two possible this afternoon. Severe threat is low, but not zero with damaging wind and localized flooding the biggest threat for areas south of I-85. Clouds will keep temps cooler with highs topping out in the low 80s.A ridge of high pressure will keep the forecast quiet and mainly dry mid-week. Highs will top out in the mid 80s with lower humidity. Temperatures will drive back toward the 90s this weekend with widespread showers and storms possible as a cold front moves through the region.
Tropical Storm Ernesto:
Ernesto is moving through the Leeward Islands. It will reach the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico later today. It will take a turn to the north over Westward Atlantic mid-week – staying away from the U.S. East Coast. It will likely strengthen rapidly, potentially becoming a major hurricane as it nears Bermuda this weekend.
