RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) β€” The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms for a two-year deal with forward Andrej Nestrasil. The deal will pay Nestrasil $875,000 this season and $950,000 in the 2016-17 season. In a statement, general manager Ron Francis says the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Nestrasil has good size and is “a good fit for our team and what we’re trying to do.”

NEW YORK (AP) β€” Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski and women’s basketball pioneer Lucille Kyvallos of Queens College have won the Lapchick Character Award for 2015. Krzyzewski has led the Blue Devils to five national championships and is the only Division I men’s coach with 1,000 victories. The winners of the eighth annual award were announced yesterday.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) β€” Ben Polland shot a 3-under 67 yesterday on The Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course to take a four-stroke lead in the 48th PGA Professional National Championship. The 24-year-old Polland is a PGA assistant professional at Deepdale in Manhasset, New York.

ATLANTA (AP) β€” Hawks guard Kyle Korver will undergo his third surgery since March when a specialist removes loose bodies from his right elbow today. Korver had surgery for a broken nose three months ago and earlier this month surgeons repaired ligament damage in his right ankle.
