ATLANTA (AP) β Atlanta Hawks guard Kyle Korver will undergo his third surgery since March when a specialist removes loose bodies from his right elbow on Tuesday. The 34-year-old Korver had surgery for a broken nose three months ago and earlier this month surgeons repaired ligament damage in his right ankle.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) β If California lawmakers get their way, those NFL cheerleaders prancing on the sidelines no longer would be independent contractors, but team employees. A bill approved by the state Senate and going to Gov. Jerry Brown would require that cheerleaders be paid at least minimum wage if they work for professional sports teams based in California.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP)β The Los Angeles Kings have terminated Mike Richards’ contract, claiming the forward committed a “material breach” of its terms. The Kings refused to say why they’re terminating Richards’ deal, which carries an annual salary cap hit of $5.75 million through 2020.
