Shots Fired During Fight At Dollar General in Lincolnton

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A man was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots and pistol whipping a woman at a Dollar General in Lincolnton, according to the police department.

This happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Dollar General on Center Drive.

Police said that multiple women were involved in a physical altercation when a man went to his vehicle to retrieve a handgun.

The man, 28-year-old Tavaz Brooks, then fired multiple shots into the air before pistol-whipping one of the women, police said. The victims were treated by Lincoln County EMS for minor injuries.

Brooks left on foot but was arrested nearby after police were given a description by the victims and witnesses.

Brooks was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Firearm by Felon
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Discharging a Firearm within the City Limits

Brooks was also served a warrant for failure to appear in court for prior charges. He is being held in the Lincoln County Jail without bond.
