UPDATE:
ROCK HILL, SC – Rock Hill Police responded to a welfare check on November 9, 2024 and found a woman dead inside a home on Cauthen Street.
Now police say the case is a homicide, because she had been hit in the head with something.
Investigators say the suspect in this case, 39-year-old Anthony Lopez, is related to the victim.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested Lopez Friday morning. He will be extradited to Rock Hill.

ROCK HILL, SC – A death investigation is underway after Rock Hill Police found a woman dead inside a home on Cauthen Street on Saturday.
Officers were responding to a welfare check on a 53-year-old woman.
According to a news release, police couldn’t get inside the house until a contractor showed up who had access to the home.
Officers believe someone may have assaulted the woman, so they called out the Criminal Investigation Division, Forensic Services Unit and York County Coroner’s Office.
There’s no word yet, on how the woman died.
