Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting In Conover

CONOVER, N.C. — Investigators say they arrested a woman for shooting into a car at an intersection in Conover, injuring one person.

Detectives say Melissa Jo Rector and another woman were involved in a verbal altercation early Friday morning at a home on Lindsey Lane.

During the altercation, the victim reportedly called a friend to pick her up and left the scene.  A short time later, investigators say Rector pulled up along the driver’s side of the vehicle the victim was riding in and fired multiple gunshots into the occupied vehicle.

A man inside the vehicle was struck by one round.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.

Rector has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
