According to an arrest warrant, Williams violated a protective order and “entered onto property without Las Enforcement escort, and unbeknownst to victim.”

ORIGINAL STORY (POSTED 12/24/24):

CHARLOTTE, NC – A Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun.

Officer Onesiphorus Williams was arrested when his fellow officers responded to a call about a domestic violence assault involving a deadly weapon around 5:30 Tuesday morning.

CMPD officials say Williams is currently on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

There have been several CMPD officers arrested and charged with crimes in 2024.

“I am deeply troubled by the arrest of Officer Williams. Our department holds itself and its officers to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty. This incident is a serious violation of those standards and a betrayal of the public trust we strive to earn every day,” CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings said.
