CHARLOTTE, NC – The North Carolina Department of Labor has cited Duke Energy following an investigation into the electrocution of a lineman last summer.
The citation comes with a fine of more than $16,000.
Zachary Jones died in August while working on Wandering Creek Drive in northwest Charlotte.
According to the citation, Jones did not have low voltage gloves long enough to protect his wrist and forearm while doing work inside an energized pad-mounted transformer.
Duke Energy can request an informal conference, contest the findings, or pay the penalty.
