PGA Fans Say Uber Quickest Option

CHARLOTTE, NC — The PGA is aiming to curb traffic troubles near Quail Hollow Club by making fans take shuttles from designated lots around the city.

You have three options to get to the course.

Fans said Monday that Uber was the quickest option.

“Everything went just like clockwork,” said Joel Nachman.

Nachman and his family took Uber from the Ballantyne area.

“It was $12 from providence point over here,” said Nachman. “It was pretty reasonable.”

You use the app on your phone to get a ride to Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church.

Then, you hop on a shuttle for a five-minute ride to the course.

When you leave, you take the shuttle back to the church and catch your Uber home.

How much you’ll pay can go up, depending on how many people in the area need a ride and how many cars are available, but Uber will warn you how much it will cost at the bottom of the screen, before you request the ride.

“I think it’s $10 going back, and it was four dollars coming,” said Shirley Gallagher.

To drive yourself, it will cost $15 to buy a parking pass online and park at Bojangles Coliseum, Carowinds or Ballantyne Business Park.

Then, catch a shuttle for a 30 to 45 minute ride to the club.

“Definitely plan ahead mentally, be prepared for the ride over and the ride back,” said Jeff Evatt.

The last option is take the light rail to the Sharon Rd West lot, and shuttle in for free if you show your PGA ticket.
