UPDATE: CMPD identifies man killed by police after shooting at officers
UPDATE:
CHARLOTT, NC – The man killed by police after they say he fired at officers in northeast Charlotte has been identified as 28-year-old Reggie Knight.
CMPD says officers were trying to serve Knight with 11 warrants out of Mecklenburg County along with arrest orders out of Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties.
Knight and officers got into a shootout on Headquarters Farm Road Friday afternoon.
CMPD says officers perceived an imminent deadly threat and discharged their service weapons engaging with the subject.

- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Firearm by Felon
- Carrying a Concealed Gun
- Resisting Public Officer
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Communicating Threats
- Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence
- Two counts of Assault on a Female
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Assault by Strangulation.
Mecklenburg County Orders for Arrest
- Felony Probation Violation Out of County
- Intoxicated and Disruptive
Iredell County Orders for Arrest
- Driving While License Revoked
- Driving While Impaired

CHARLOTTE, NC – CMPD says two officers were injured and a suspect is dead following a shooting in northeast Charlotte. Both officers sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The officers were attempting to serve warrants on a suspect for violent criminal actions, according to CMPD Police Chief Johnny Jennings.
Jennings told WCCB during a brief news conference at the scene that the officers encountered the suspect while attempting to serve the warrants. Jennings said during the encounter, the suspect begin shooting at officers. Jennings said officers fired back, killing the wanted suspect.

CMPD confirmed two officers were injured in a shooting in a post on the social media platform X.
Preliminary information indicates two officers were injured during an officer involved shooting. Both sustained non- life threatening injuries. The suspect is deceased on scene. More information to come from Public Affairs.

CMPD posted shortly after 5pm that there is a large police presence in a northeast Charlotte neighborhood.

Numerous roads were closed in Charlotte as the injured officers were transported to the hospital.
