Former inmate turns life around, opens mobile coffee truck

CHARLOTTE, NC – Three days a week outside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse you’ll find the Reform Coffee truck and its owner Josh Dornan.

“In the Marine Corps, I learned to love black coffee,” says Dornan, “I got 12 years clean from drugs and alcohol, and that’s because of coffee. I used to go to meetings just because there was free coffee there.”

He just started serving customers outside the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. For him the location is personal.

“This is the second time I’ve been there for a crime I didn’t commit,” explains Dornan, “The first time, I got scared into a plea deal, and that’s why I have a criminal record now. The second time I decided I’m going, I’m just going to take this to trial and trust God like I should.”

Court records show charges were dismissed before the case went to trial.

During his 9 months in jail he learned the skills to get Reform Cafe up and running and an LLC.

He thanks Peace 4 Poverty and Joshua Proby.
