Toasty start to weekend, pattern change ahead

A cold front will bring a few isolated storms to our area Saturday afternoon, but the rest of the weekend looks lovely.

Stifling humidity and building heat continue their reign across the Carolinas as we close out the final full workweek of April, but welcome changes are ahead of us this weekend. We’ll have to deal with one final round of showers and storms between Friday night and Saturday afternoon as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Most of the rain should clear the WCCB Charlotte viewing area after sunrise Saturday morning, but a few isolated thunderstorms may pop up along the front as it slices through the Carolinas. As the front clears to southwest, our rain chances go along with it.

Some much-needed relief from the heat and humidity arrives by Sunday morning as lows dip into the 40s and 50s across the board. Highs will largely end up in the 60s and 70s to close out April’s final weekend. The newfound cooler air won’t last long; highs jump back into the 80s by Tuesday before rising close to 90° on Wednesday and Thursday as we transition into May.
