COLUMBIA, SC — Friday’s decision in Columbia could also have an economic boost.

The South CarolinaΒ Chapter of theΒ NAACP say it will lift a 15-year economic boycott of the state. Β The civil rights group imposed the boycott in 2000 when legislators voted to keep the Confederate flag on the State House grounds.

Β “South Carolina removing that symbol of bigotry, hatred and white supremacy, South Carolina said we now we want to treat everybody as they should be treated. Β Once the sanctions, the national organization lifts the sanctions, and that will be soon, within a matter of hours,” said SC NAACP President Lonnie Randolph.

TheΒ NAACP has already lifted its ban on Championship games in theΒ PalmettoΒ State.
