Two More Deputies Admit To Sex On The Job

York County, SC — Two more York County Sheriff’s Office deputies are off the job after admitting to having sex on the job with one another.

That brings the total to eight deputies this year.

Sheriff Kevin Tolson said he thought he had the problem solved when he fired, suspended and demoted six deputies in August.
Taxpayers are angry.

“They are paid with my taxes,” Kitty Wynnberry. “Don’t make us look like idiots for having trust in you.”

Two deputies sent resignation letters to the sheriff on Sept. 26.

WCCB Charlotte is not releasing their names because they resigned before the sheriff could punish them.

They admit to having sex at least six times since 2015 while at least one or both were on duty. The encounters happened at home, in a wooded area off HWY 21 in Fort Mill, at a campground, in a patrol car and in a personal car.

“If somebody is in an emergency and they need help in that moment but everyone is too busy doing personal things, who’s out there to help you?” said Mackenzie Macnab.

In Aug., WCCB Charlotte reported the sheriff fired Sgt. Jennifer Forsythe and Deputy Daniel Hamrick.

He suspended three others without pay and demoted one.

“If they are doing that, then what else are they doing?” said Macnab.

“I am not hiding anything from the public,” said Sheriff Tolson. “Again, I told you this is, it’s not pretty. If I were trying to hide something, again, I wouldn’t have launched an investigation.”

Sheriff Tolson says since then, Forsythe reported male deputies sexually harassing female deputies and retaliation if someone reports misconduct.

“I have not been made aware of any reports of sexual harassment or retaliation concerning this employee or others associated with her since I’ve been sheriff,” said Sheriff Tolson.

Taxpayers say their trust is violated.

“They keep slapping us in the face by doing something so ridiculous,” said Wynnberry.

When asked why the latest deputies got the chance to resign, and if they were given special treatment, the sheriff says no. He says previous deputies did not offer resignation letters so he had to fire them.
