UPDATE:

CHARLOTTE, NC – A triple shooting in north Charlotte is now a homicide after police say a teenage victim died from his injuries.

Police say three people were shot on Friday, May 23, 2025, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Stroud Park Court.

According to court documents, Medic took two of the victims to the hospital, while a third showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle.

Police say 16-year-old Jamariyee Dixon died at the hospital on May 27th.

Court documents show police identified 20-year-old Marion McKnight as a suspect after looking at video footage of the shooting.

Detectives say the video showed a man pull a gun out and point it at several people and shoot several times.

Jail records show McKnight was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail early Saturday morning.

He is charged with murder and three counts of attempted first degree murder.

McKnight had his first court appearance on the murder charge Wednesday and received a court appointed attorney.

He’s being held on no bond for the murder charge.  His bond on the attempted first degree murder is $1 million.

CHARLOTTE, NC – Police have made an arrest after three people were hurt in a north Charlotte shooting.

This happened just before 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon on Stroud Park Court off Oak Lawn Avenue.

Police say two of the victims were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The third victim is expected to be okay.

Police have not named the suspect they arrested.

A neighbor says that gun violence is not normal in their neighborhood.

“You know, it’s Memorial (Day) weekend. Families are home trying to enjoy the holiday and then you hear all this,” the neighbor said. “How can you come out of your house thinking you’re safe? It’s not right.”

CMPD has not said what led up to the shooting. They are not looking for any other suspects.
