Couch Chat: Should Colleges Ban Controversial Groups From Speaking?

Students at the University of Florida say it feels like a power keg there this mroning… the University is bracing itself ahead of a speech fro a white supremacist.
Richard Spencer is supposed to talk this afternoon. University and local officials are worried it could turn violent.

Extra security is being brought in and Florida’s Governor is declaring a state of emergency. Spencer’s speech is putting the University in the middle of an ongoing debate over what is free speech and it limits.

To tie in with this… a Pennsylvania College is banning the public from seeing an art exhibit it says is too disturbing. The rewind exhibit features mannequins dressed in colorful KKK robes, images of lynchings and artwork that deals with recent police shootings of unarmed blacks. Only college students and invited guest will be allowed to see it.

Should colleges ban controversial groups from speaking or should it be open to all ideas?
