Discussion:
We’re tracking scattered strong to severe storms this afternoon as a cold front crosses the Carolinas. Not everyone will see storms, but the setup could bring damaging winds and isolated hail in the stronger cells, especially east of I-77.Timing is a little tricky today, as some models show early clouds limiting instability, but others hint at redevelopment by mid to late afternoon. Best storm window for the Charlotte area is 2 to 8pm.

Friday will feel a little better as dry air filters in behind the front with highs near 90, but it won’t feel as muggy. The heat ramps up Saturday and Sunday, with temps pushing back into the mid 90s as humidity builds. Feels like temps will creep back near 100 by Sunday.
That’s just the start, next week will be even hotter as a ridge sets up over the region. This means limited storm chances and potentially dangerous heat as highs push near the triple digits and heat index values reach 103+.
